In December 2008, Vikki was contacted by CEB Attorney Editor, Francesca Bannerman. Franny and Vikki had worked together 15 years ago. CEB needed a person to review and update its popular Action Guide Publication, “Handling Subpoenas.” In May 2009, the Action Guide “Handling Subponeas” was published. The text guides the attorney or paralegal through all aspects of preparing, serving, quashing and responding to subpoenas in pretrial discovery and at trial. Vikki joined BHP in March of 2004 and works on the firm’s personal injury, product liability and insurance coverage cases. She obtained her paralegal certification in 1991 from San Francisco State University. The Action Guide covers:

• how to request the attendance of parties and non-parties to the action at a civil trial or other non-deposition proceeding

• how to serve a deposition or civil subpoena, pay witness fees and costs, request production of records, and anticipate objections to subpoenas and witnesses who disobey subpoenas
